Disappointing for the price tag
I echo another review that this feels cheaply made, flimsy and plastic. It does not have a soft start as advertised, in fact it has a pronounced kick which is annoying when you have lined up your timber ready to cut. The sliding mechanism is scratchy and not smooth. It is also heavy and very large, you need to be sure you have plenty of space to store this. The way it fixes to the stand is also clunky compared to other brands, you have to bolt it into place not click it in. The first few times i used it the motor is very smelly, perhaps that will clear up with use, time will tell. The plus side is that it bevels both ways and has a nice big blade so should be accurate. I am yet to use it extensively to find out just how accurate. I have a lot of power tools and they are nearly all Makita, which is usually a great brand, but i feel they have just compromised on the details, overall design and build quality, which is not what you'd usually expect a) from Makita, and b) for a £500 mitre saw
