The Dewalt DCN692 18V XR Brushless First Fix Framing Nail Gun from ITS offers power and portability, featuring brushless motor technology delivering the power to fire a 90mm ring shank nail into softwood as well as 63mm into hardwoods.

The distinctive angled magazine is designed for working in tight, cramped, overhead & hard to reach places, the DCN692 is ideal for timber frame erection, roof battening, stud work, shuttering, panelling, roof decking, cladding and a host of other applications.

Utilising 30-34°degree angled nails, 2.8mm to 3.3mm nail diameter, a 50mm to 90m nail range with a 55 nail capacity, the sequential operating mode allows for precision placement, whilst the bump operating mode provides the user with production speed.

Using mechanical rather than gas operation offers consistent performance at temperatures between -20 to 50°C & minimal cleaning/service requirements increasing productivity.

Class leading vibration and sound figures offer fantastic user protection, it also features a reversible belt hook, non-mark tip.

At the heart of the DCN692 Nail Gun is the brushless motor that allows you to use the tool efficiently.  As part of the design, the tool utilizes every bit of battery power when you need, all while reducing the need for ongoing maintenance by reducing the amount of heat generated and working more efficiently.

The technology in creating a brushless motor system allows for perfect symmetry between battery power and usage ensuring you get all the power you need, when you need it.

What is a Framing Nailer?

Framing nailers are also referred to as 1st fix nailers.

These are much more of a construction tool, very popular, and definitely not suitable for anything where a fine finish is needed. These nailers can be heavy, and they need to be in order to be able to pack the punch required to fire such large nails into tougher timber.

The most common applications would be any type of timber framing assembly work, such as constructing timber stud walls, roofing, building decking bases or fencing. It's the rough and tough end of the nail gun world. Large, heavy-duty nails with significant holding power are what you can expect here, don't expect a discrete impression of where the nail has been fired either, you are going to know where this nailer has been.

Common nail sizes tend to range from around 50mm to as much as 100mm with some models.

It's also likely you'll have a choice of nail type to suit your application, EG, a standard "Bright Nail" for indoor applications where moisture and rust aren't a problem, all the way through to galvanised nails and even sometimes stainless steel nails for those applications where you really do need to be confident rust is never going to be an issue down the road.

Nails are normally "clipped head" and are often available with a "Ringed Shank" for extra holding power. Typically, nails will be around 2.8mm to 3.1mm in diameter.

    Fantastic bit of kit

Posted by Richard Dunseith on 28th Sep 2023

Had a 35 metre feather board fence to build and really didn't want to use a hammer. I did my research and the DeWalt was always recommended. I shopped around and ITS had the best prices by a good margin. Ordered the DeWalt one afternoon and it arrived before 0930 the next day. The Frame Nail Gun is easy to use if a bit heavy after a while. Out of 900+ nails I fired I had 1 jam which was easy to clear. Altogether I'd recommend the DeWalt and I certainly recommend ITS

It's heavier than a paslode but you soon get used to it, the only thing it struggles with is 90km riverbank nails other than that it's very good. One battery should last all day unless your floor bumping, paslode nails or similar with gas are min ?50 per box but but nails without the gas n you pay ?27 tops ,so after 10 boxes you save enough money to buy a new naked fun ??? No brainer ... And finally i own 2 of these nailers
