ITS introduce the latest jobsite radios from Dewalt; the DCR019 and the DCR020. At ITS we’re happy to bring you this brief preview of what we can expect from these additions to the supreme XR range of power tools.
Small Design – Big Sounds
The first thing that strikes us about these radios is just how small they are and similar they look. They are about half the size of the popular DCR016 & DCR017 radios that hit our shelves in 2013.
The radios are packed full of safety features and functions; they have a strong, robust design with rubberised handles and a roll cage that sticks out from the body of the radio so if it falls over the buttons and display are protected. The aerial is rubber and bendy so it’ll take a knock with no problems and the sub base is replaceable should anything happen to it.
These are corded machines that come with a 1.8m power cable for 240v sockets, but can also be run using 10.8v, 14.4v and 18v XR Li-ion batteries. Unlike the DCR017 these radios DO NOT charge your li-ion batteries.
The DCR019 is the analogue only version, that plays AM and FM broadcasts. Again it accepts all voltage XR Li-ion batteries and can be run off mains using the included power cable.
There’s also a handy 3.5mm auxiliary port which allows you to connect any portable audio device so you can guarantee your favourite tunes at all times.
This is the DAB + version that can also play FM/AM signals – Its also offers a USB port which provides charging for your mobile phone/Ipod etc. Like the above it can run off mains cable or any of the Dewalt XR li-ion batteries.
The DCR020 has a station storage feature meaning you can save pre-sets of 10 DAB stations and 5 FM stations, meaning you’ll have something stored to suit everyone’s taste (no matter how bad it is)
Again like above the DCR020 has a handy 3.5mm auxiliary port which allows you to connect any portable audio device so you can guarantee your favourite tunes at all times.
So these are the new compact Dewalt jobsite radios, we expect to see these radios on our shelves in April of this year. Let us know what you think of these models, and remember to share using the buttons below.
