Bessey Clamps – Alive and Gripping!

ITS have recently taken stock of a great selection of Bessey Clamps, just what you want when you need to apply more pressure to your woodworking projects…

They say that you can never have too many clamps, but we’d like to change that age-old woodworking proverb slightly to say that you can never have too many of the RIGHT clamps in your workshop. And just like Freddie Mercury’s non-sensical singing in ‘Under Pressure’ (y’know, “Um ba ba be, Um ba ba be, De day da, Ee day da”), it can feel like a jumble of jibberish trying to work out what one’s best for you. Well, be confused no longer as we go through our Bessey range to help you choose the right clamp for your project.

Parallel Clamps

The parallel clamp is a real gem of a product and something that can prove extremely versatile when gripping materials together. They’re the step up from basic clamping systems such as pipe clamps which are cheap but infective when keeping your project aligned correctly if you’re looking for accuracy and a good quality finish.

In short, parallel clamps apply pressure much more accurately than other clamps, readjustment is easier and more reliable and as a result it means you can work faster, saving you time and money!
Let’s have a look at Bessey parallel clamps…

F-Style Clamps

Most people, not just tradesmen, are familiar with these handy products that are a staple of any tool chest. You can probably guess why they’re called F-style clamps (as opposed a a Q-style or Z-style) but you’re probably thinking why you’d get an f-style instead of a parallel clamp…

Well, the difference lies in the point of delivery for force – whereas parallel clamps spread their force over extended blocks, F-clamps concentrate their force to much more focused point. This makes them invaluable for clamping materials with a small surface area. The great thing is that this doesn’t mean a loss of force as Bessey’s F-clamps still pack a Newton-punch like the proverbial apple falling from a tree. Time to check out the details…
